PROGRESS REPORTS

In order to enhance the fun in the contact with horses Riding Centre Hallinckveld introduced its very own progress measuring system alongside the KNHS riding training. The personal progress reports visualize the progress in skills in both horsemanship and technical riding skills. In this way the riders are set more short-term targets to achieve and riding remains varied and definitely more fun.

In and outside the regular lesson hours the skills will be graded and assessed so that riders can be promoted to a higher level and a new progress report with new and harder skills to develop. Riders are not obliged to use these report cards for which there are no set tests. They just support the riders in their development in a visible and entertaining way.

Each card contains 10 skills that will be tested during lessons and in the stables. A grade out of 10 shows the degree of progress in the specified skill.

During the lessons al the different skills will be trained and at the end of each trimester the skills will be graded. When a progress report card is full or the average score of eigth is obtained, the students can take the card home!

KNHS RIDING TUITION

At Riding Centre Hallinckveld all riders receive a so-called KNHS riding passport. This is a nationally approved proof of registration in which your level is registered. This level of riding skills is tested and assessed during monthly KNHS contests organized by Riding Centre Hallinckveld.

During these contests the riders will be assessed on both their practice and their theoretical knowledge, and receive an official diploma. The contests aim at being measuring points throughout the complete trajectory. A certain level of these tests is required for specific activities such as the advanced lessons or the hacks.

At Riding Centre Hallinckveld five types of tests are set:

-F-tests: Dressage
-VA-tests: Proficiency tests
-S-tests: Jumping
-CBR: Certificates for hacks
-Balance tests: Tests for the balance and posture competition

Riding contests

All riders that have been riding for about half a year in group lessons may start preparing for the first test (F1). In consultation with the instructor it is decided when a rider is ready to take part in the following test and which pony or horse is most suitable for him/her. Riders are not allowed to choose the same pony or horse twice in a row. An experienced rider may enter the fast stream and start at a higher level up to F6. Registration for tests can be done online through our custumor portal. 4 weeks before the competition date the registration goes online. In the agenda (grouplessons) you can find the competition. Make sure to enter also your test number and favourite horse to ride on while registrating.

Information, (mock) tests and theory can be found in the KNHS basic handbook ‘Leer paardrijden met plezier’which can be bought from us. The sequels ‘Haal je Ruiterbewijs met plezier’, ‘Beter paardrijden met plezier’, ‘PaardenWelzijn’ en ‘Carrouselrijden met plezier’ are also available.

THEORY AND PROMOTION POINTS

The tests F2, F4, F6, F8 and F10 consist of a theoretical and practical part. The theory can be found in the KNHS basic handbook ‘Leer paardrijden met plezier’.

When you have gained 210 points (an average of 6) or more you receive a so-called promotion point. At a certain minimum of promotion points you may enter a higher level, but you don’t have to, if you want to stay at the same level for some time. You may enter the same test up to five times in order to get promotion points, if you want to become more confident before entering the following level. See the scheme below for the minima and maxima of promotion points.

If you do not gain 210 points, you are allowed to enter the same test on the next occasion. F1, F2 A minimum of 1 promotion point needed for a higher level, a maximum of 5 points.

F3 – F8 A minimum of 2 promotion points needed for a higher level, a maximum of 5 points.

F9 – F20 A minimum of 3 promotion points needed for a higher level, a maximum of 5 points.

COMPETITION OUTFIT

For competitions you have to look smart. You have got a choice:

Hallinckveld dress: smart riding breeches, Hallinckveld sweater or polo shirt; gloves are not required, but if you wear them they should be white; polished riding boots or riding shoes with chaps; your hair should be either short or in a bun or plait.

Official competition dress is not required, but if you want to dress officially it should be according to the following rules: white riding breeches; white blouse; white plastron with clip; white gloves; riding jacket; riding boots or jodhpurs with mini chaps (without any fringes); your hair should be either short or in a bun or plait.

GROOMING YOUR PONY OR HORSE

It is of the utter importance to groom your pony or horse carefully. If you like, you are allowed to plait the manes. You cannot change the harness, although you may use your own white saddlecloth (shabrack). The last rider of the day unbraids the plaits and tries to recover all the rubber bands without dropping them on the stable floor. Everything, horse, tack and stables, should be tidy before the start of the prize-giving ceremony.

THE DAY OF THE COMPETITION

The list of participants and starting times can be consulted in the cafeteria and will also be sent to you by mail one week before the day of the competition. Make sure you are present at least 45 minutes before you have to start so that you can hand in your riding passport and pay for the contest in time. You are meant to groom and saddle your own pony or horse, but if you need help we are there for you. Near the entrance to the arena there is someone (the track master) who tells you when you have to go in and also checks your bridle and saddle.

CANCELLING

Up to one week before the day of the competition cancellations are free. For later cancellations starting fees should be paid.
