Each day there are at least two lessons: dressage, skills training or show jumping. We also train in pommel horse riding (acrobatics and gymnastics on horseback), we also practise freedom dressage (a horse without any tack listening to its trainer and doing certain tricks) and we start driving horse and wagon. There will be a contest, several practical workshops and we will go for a hack in the country.
The camp is intended for youngsters from 6 to 13 years old. Our groups have a maximum of 20 participants so that everyone will get our full attention and coaching. SHOWJUMPING COMPETITIONS
SHOW JUMPING COMPETITIONS
At Whitsun and on the first sunday after New Year’s Day we always organize show jumping competitions also known as concours hippique. We work with different rubrics (from beginners to advanced) according to guidelines of the KNHS show jumping schooling.
Intermediate
Proficiency test 1 (from F3 onward) and Proficiency test 2 (from F5 onward)
Advanced
Show jumping S40, S60 en S80
This is how it works at KNHS jumping schooling
The proficiency tests
If a rider rode in F tests (about level F3) a couple of times, he or she is allowed to take part in proficiency tests Va1 en Va2. Besides some required stable movements there will be some new tasks such as slalom and jumping across small obstacles. In these proficiency tests the balance, agility and collaboration with the horse are paramount. The tests form a challenging addition to the F tests both for the riders and the horses.
In a playful way the rider gets more agile and gains a natural balance. If the rider gets 180 points or more in a proficiency test, he or she is awarded a promotion point. If the rider has collected two promotion points in Va1, he is allowed to go on to Va2. If you have gained F5 level in dressage you are allowed to enter Va2 straight away. You will get your Va2 diploma after gaining two promotion points in Va2. After that you can enter show jumping schooling.
Show jumping
In show jumping you have to jump a set parcours of obstacles that you have to learn by heart beforehand. No one will read to you what you have to do and in which order. Before your rubric starts you are allowed to walk the set order of the obstacles. Show jumping involves different levels or classes. The first level class is called S40. 40 is the height of the obstacles of the parcours in centimetres. Each following class adds 10 centimetres to the previous one, S 90 being the highest. For S40, S60 en S80 there are diplomas to be gained. You pass for one of these after gaining 10 promotion points in the relevant class.
How to get your promotion point?
Your jumping ability test will be assessed by a jury, who will grade your on three different aspects of show jumping:
• Entering the arena, halting and saluting
• The way you ride in between the jumps
• Posture and balance
If you score an average of 6 out of 10 you earn 1 promotion point; if you score an average of 7 out of 10 you earn 2 promotion points.
Pas de Deux
PAS DE DEUX
At Easter we organise the annual Pas de Deux contest. This is always on monday second Easterday. In this contest you ride a freestyle dressage kür as a couple. You may ride side by side, or one behind the other or in a synchronized kür. There is a test sheet available which tells you the compulsory movements at the different levels, but you may also design your own kür, which is far more fun.
You may select your own music for your dressage test. You may be dressed up and dress up your pony or horse. The theme may be Easter or spring or anything you think suitable. We have an award for originality for the couple who decked themselves and their ponies or horses out most beautifully.

Birthdayparties
On the Friday ou Saturdayafternoon we organize birthdayparties.
The program is as follow:
We start with a tour over the Riding Center. After that we're going to eat cake in the cafetaria (cake not included, lemonade is) and unpacking presents (optional). Next we are pimping horsesshoes which thay can take home offcourse.
After that we are going to brush a horse and have a vaulting lesson (gymnastics on a horse). The vaulting is always outdoors.
The party takes up to 2,5 or 3 hours. The costs are 15 Euro pp with a minimum of 7 and maximum of 10.
MASTERCLASS
MASTERCLASS
Master classes on all kinds of aspects of equine sports are held regularly. They teach all the useful information you need. E.g. a master class dressage is taught by Hellen Rotteveel every other year. In a series of meetings Hellen lectures on dressage at a high level. Different specific aspects will be explicated and studied in depth, using the ‘Skala der Ausbildung’ (ladder of development) as a starting point. These master class evening meetings can be attended separately, but attending all meetings guarantees optimal continuity in knowledge and skills.
Veterinarian Dr. Gert Teunissen also teaches a master class about equine welfare, judgement of the equine exterior and several other topics.

RIDING LICENSE
During the schooling for the riding licence the rider learns about feeding and grooming, horsemanship, riding in the track in the arena, show jumping and bridling a horse during obstacle practice. Hacks and road safety training sessions are essential parts of the riding licence. Proficiency is being assessed in an exam. In addition to these training programmes we recommend the following handbooks: ‘Haal je Ruiterbewijs met plezier’ and ‘PaardenWelzijn’. These books contain all the information you need to know to be successful in the exam for your riding licence including what you and your pony or horse need to wear, what the judges are looking for and how to qualify.
What is the aim of getting the licence?
– It is a certificate to prove your ability in horse riding. When you have passed the exam you can prove your horsemanship and your skills and knowledge about dealing with horses and riding them in their habitat and the wider surroundings in a safe and responsible manner.
– The liability insurance requires a riding licence. It is needed in case of damage to others.
– In some specific nature reserves a licence is compulsory.
